Happy Holidays from Djangolaya!

After a busy fall season, we’re looking forward to holidays and some fun events for the whole family.   We’ll be playing as the DC Holiday Market on Sunday Dec. 10 at 2:30.

Consistently ranked among America’s best Holiday Markets, and anyone who’s visited will testify as to why. Located on Washington’s F Street between 7th & 9th streets NW, outside the National Portrait Gallery and Smithsonian American Art Museum, it features a rotating selection of exhibitors and artisans offering fine art, crafts, jewelry, pottery, clothing, and specialty food items. The market takes place every day from mid-November all the way through to Christmas Eve.

Then on Dec. 16 at 6:00 we return to Brookside Gardens for their annual Garden of Lights

Step into a magical winter wonderland illuminated with more than one million dazzling colorful lights shaped into hand-crafted, original art forms of flowers, animals and other natural elements. Stroll from garden to garden enjoying twinkling tree forms, sparkling fountains, and whimsical winter scenes. The Garden of Lights celebrates its 19th season as a Baltimore/Washington, DC area family holiday tradition.

The night wouldn’t be complete without a visit inside the Conservatory to enjoy watching G-Scale model trains wind through a seasonal landscape. Afterward, warm up inside the Visitors Center while you sip hot cocoa and listen to one of the nightly musical performances.

In October we said goodbye to Tom Kitchen on guitar.   Tom brought a strong sense of rhythm, jazz, and classical backgound to our group had played with us for many gigs.  We wish him well with his busy schedule.   We are also happy to welcome Fabian de Kok Mercado on guitar to the group.  Fabian is well versed in the Manouche style of gypsy jazz guitar and adds a new level of excitement to our playing.   You won’t want to miss it.  For a sneak preview, check out this video…
