Dear Friends
We just wanted to take a minute and thank everyone who has supported our music .   This fall, Djangolaya is celebrating 3 years of making music with gypsy jazz enthusiasts in the Washington area.  During the  few past months we were excited up participate in the NPR Tiny Desk Concert .   Ok, so we didn’t win the contest but  we did get our original tune, “Minoring in Latin”, played on WAMU’s Capital Soundtrack.   A big thanks to Jeff Macmillan and Steve Barrett for recording this and Max Barrett for filling in on bass.   Look for more original tunes coming out this year.

We’re expanding the reach of our live performance having played several times in Baltimore this year and have scheduled live gigs from Solomons to Smithsburg.   Whether an arts festival, a winery , or simply a neighborhood bistro, we’ll be playing near you sometime soon.

The whole DC gypsy jazz community was sad to see Ben Brooks (HCDC) leave the area for the west coast.   He did us all a great service, not only as the leader of HCDC, but by starting the gypsy jazz rotation of bands at Bistro 29.  I’ll be stepping into his shoes as the band coordinator for this neat little venue so let’s keep Saturday nights busy as this bistro so that we can continue to see a great collection of bands.  This year Bistro 29 has already hosted, Hot Club of DC, Hot Club of Baltimore, Djangolaya, Bitter Dose Combo, Rick Olivarez Trio, and the Dave Kline Band.

We will continue to use the Djangolaya Facebook page for posting events, videos and other items but recognizing that not everyone uses Facebook, here’s a quick look at what’s coming up.

Djangolaya is looking forward to some exciting events this fall season.
